Dhaka Film Festival to screen ‘Amphibious’

The 19th Dhaka Int’l Film Festival in Bangladesh is to screen ‘Amphibious’.

The 19th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh has been set to screen Iranian feature ‘Amphibious’.

The Iranian movie will take part at the DIFF’s “Cinema of the World” section.

Directed by Borzou Niknejad, the film is about Ata who lives with his father as well as two of his friends, Hamid and Mojtaba.
Their friendship is apparently strong, but the arrival of a specific person triggers surprising events.

“Hamid is an amphibian. If he doesn't go underwater, he will be crushed under the feet,” a synopsis for the film reads.

‘Amphibious’ is starring Pejman Jamshidi, Mohammad-Javad Ezzati, Hadi Hejazifar, and Setareh Pesyani.

Earlier reports said a number of films made by prominent Iranian director Pouran Derakhshandeh will be reviewed at the DIFF as part of the “Retrospective” section.

Iranian films ‘Suddenly a Tree’ by Safi Yazdanian, Abbas Amini’s ‘The Slaughterhouse’, and ‘Careless Crime’ by Shahram Mokri will also take part in the Asian Film Competition of the DIFF.

Meanwhile, ‘Sunless Shadows’, ‘Dabur’, ‘Diapason’, ‘I am here!’, and ‘Arsu’ will be screened at the festival’s Spiritual Section.

The festival lineup also include ‘That Night’s Train’ by Hamid-Reza Qotbi, ‘Eye’ directed by Mahshad Vali, ‘The Ocean behind the Window’ directed by Babak Nabizadeh, as well as ‘Kiarostami and His Missing Cane’ by Mahmoud-Reza Sani.

The 19th DIFF will be held on January 16-24, 2021.
